I'd like to introduce you to Bonnie (right) & Clyde (left), our 8 year old Miniature Pinschers. Little did we know how completely appropriate their names would be! They are brother and sister, altho their nicknames are 'Clyde the Cowardly' and 'Bonnie the Brave'. We say all the time what a mistake they were... they are yappy, loud, and spastic little dogs, but truly we do love them. They are almost more like house cats than dogs. Their favorite place is curled up on the back of the couch cushions watching the world go by or tucked under the blankets snuggled up around our legs. Especially in winter.. they don't like the cold. Neither do I.. perhaps I can find a family to adopt me, give me two meals a day and let me sleep curled up in a cozy ball til spring.. sounds like heaven!<br />

In winter's past we have been buried under the avalanche of hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, earmuffs, neck warmers, snow pants, coats, boots, etc... last year I finally realized it was taking waaaay too long to get out the door with three kiddos, three hats, six matching mittens/gloves, and hopefully 3 pairs of matching boots. That's when the $5.00 plastic hanging shoe caddy that would most certainly be a topic of nightmares for Martha Stewart, came into my life. It's not attractive, it's not sturdy, it's not handcrafted, and it's probably riddled with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bisphenol_A" target="_blank">BPA</a>. Given all of that, it is the <em>most practical</em> organization tool in my entire house. This thing works. Overtime. For free. It's hard core labor. <br />
<br />
The scarves hang from $1 wreath hangers. They are actually on clearance at our Walmart right now for 25 cents, as they are 75% off with the Christmas things. They work soooo well!! We can see all the scarves we have and it only takes a split second to grab one. These would work great in a regular closet for ties and purses as well. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNmnWJVHngUs52ln2rY1am7TwcghGOxm77vMaEomVflxWvW6_nnaBWjBGTXuZWYAMP9t9dfB7qY2ANeL6VcttaBPBr7ShWOIRxCfcaCGetUujcmY-fLcWnKQOf3AmKaIzN3B4J9g/s1600/photo+%25285%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640px" nfa="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNmnWJVHngUs52ln2rY1am7TwcghGOxm77vMaEomVflxWvW6_nnaBWjBGTXuZWYAMP9t9dfB7qY2ANeL6VcttaBPBr7ShWOIRxCfcaCGetUujcmY-fLcWnKQOf3AmKaIzN3B4J9g/s640/photo+%25285%2529.JPG" width="640px" /></a></div><br />
A few rules for it to truly work:<br />
<strong>1.)</strong> It needs to have CLEAR pockets, they are a must.. I tried a more attractive, linen looking version and it didn't work. You have to be able to SEE the ENTIRE contents of each pocket (just in case a rogue mitten goes AWOL).<br />
<strong>2.) </strong>It needs to hang on the OUTSIDE of your closet/hallway door, where you can see it. In full view. I tried it on the other side of the door. Obviously a much more 'clutter free' look, but the kids won't put things in it if they have to open the door first. I won't put things in it if I have to open the door first. <br />
<strong>3.)</strong> Keep things where they can be reached. ie.. the bottom rows are for my wee girls, (ages 4 & 6), the middle for my 13 yr old and the top rows for my husband and I. That way everyone can reach to grab or put away their own things. <br />
<br />
Do I still end up being the only one who puts things in the pockets? Usually. When we enter the house everyone tosses their stuff willy nilly and I quickly grab everything and chuck it in the pockets. It is easy peasy and if you are good enough to get your kids (or husband) trained to put things away themselves then more power to ya! <br />
<br />
When we are heading out the door.. it's all right there. Love. it.<br />
<br />
Do you have any <em>'can't live without'</em> organization solutions? Share, I'd love to peek! They don't have to be pretty just have to WORK. <br />
<br />

<span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">**Aaahhaa!! It worked! FYI, I had to upload the image for my header into this post and then get the URL,<em> then </em>post the URL into the header setup box. The traditional option for uploading a header was drastically distorting my image. Nothing like making it complicated Blogger!**</span><br />
<br />
<strike>I am desperately trying to upload a new header for my blog</strike>. I decided it was time to lighten things up a bit and switch from black to white. As with most images, they are more appealing to the eye against a black background, but the whole blog was feeling a twee bit too dungeon for me. The time for light, bright, and clean is at hand. Blogger is not cooperating (that's not unusual) but always at the most inopportune times. :/ <br />
<br />
If this sideways route to getting the above image up as my blog header works you'll be able to see it at the tippy top. And, if not, then you can atleast enjoy it here!Abbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07389665568781422147noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20447939.post-56383590155114198182012-01-14T13:03:00.001-05:002012-01-14T13:04:11.306-05:00The cold is rolling in...Winter's wrath has finally hit us here in New Hampshire. Things to do, get done, start, complete or stop, avoid and quit. I take comfort in the start of a new year. As if the entire past 12 months have been wiped clear and its all new again. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqaloP2s7ET721csv4UqkCfH0MHdYaQE6KbIpKRam2DquiDnxePXeXtjiz1U_lBFH7XapFHF7qJFgmNySgn3GxSpHfw3Puq4r-e5-SWvQXx7Qlu7XTNBcrjoSpazpTHpn2dHDUog/s1600/h4sm.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqaloP2s7ET721csv4UqkCfH0MHdYaQE6KbIpKRam2DquiDnxePXeXtjiz1U_lBFH7XapFHF7qJFgmNySgn3GxSpHfw3Puq4r-e5-SWvQXx7Qlu7XTNBcrjoSpazpTHpn2dHDUog/s640/h4sm.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
1. drink water. I know, simple enough, but I really don't like the stuff yet I feel so much better if I get my daily 6 cups.<br />
2. do a load of laundry from start to finish every day. Put away. Every day. <br />
3. purchase and learn to use a new version of Photoshop. Mine crashes, it needs to go. <br />
4. don't put off or avoid uncomfortable tasks/situations. Step up, take a breath and BE present. <br />
5. get moving. walk. run. squat. lunge. I will be in a bathing suit and proud of my 37 year old self by our trip to Disney in May. <br />
6. Learn. Practice. Ask. Listen. Learn. Earn. <br />
7. read the Bible. Every year this makes my list but I have yet to get 'er done. <br />
8. Make slipcovers for our couches. That will create a great neutral background for new beginnings. (they are a bold red and black plaid now..I'm looking to use new washed dropclothes as an inexpensive fabric.)<br />
<br />
<br />
I'd say that's a good start. Do you have a list? <br />

Have you ever stumbled across something on the web and said "They want how much for that?? I could make one myself!" Most often I do just that, but alas, very rarely do I ever get down to work and actually 'make' what ever 'it' happens to be. <a href="http://www.susieharrisblog.com/2011/09/signs-for-sale.html">Painted name signs are one of those things...</a> I love them! Have been browsing through Etsy looking at different styles, etc.. and finally decided to take the plunge. Here is a quick tutorial on how to make your own, custom, hand painted wall plaque, wall art, sign, whatever.. :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnPCt89J4zKUZjs40oeInP2MhRETnIBJWLIjnX4JvPO1EBoSOnHp3u9Es0GTiVwelbIwxTulkk_KOFwMQKXCkHxdXVNOp1mBpvNJu16K2CmcRZgROISe7ZZdl8gXtn21Tph_RxkQ/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnPCt89J4zKUZjs40oeInP2MhRETnIBJWLIjnX4JvPO1EBoSOnHp3u9Es0GTiVwelbIwxTulkk_KOFwMQKXCkHxdXVNOp1mBpvNJu16K2CmcRZgROISe7ZZdl8gXtn21Tph_RxkQ/s320/photo.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
First, you need a board or canvas. I prefer wood. We have a ton of scrap lumber in the basement left over from our home construction. I found a tongue and grove piece, maybe 12" by 28". I'm not exactly sure how big it is, it's hanging up above my sink and I don't want to climb up there and measure. But size doesn't matter.. you'll see.. I wanted black letters on a white background, so, dah, I painted the entire thing white. With acrylics. Again, what I had on hand.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPEtlcNWQNTkGWr5aIGYVYCzl0dnr-7A4IoQewhR6SSZLehHUEUs9vejzOAVheKJUmVXPLjtEwRQ8d-9Uhbbm-IzK1Vq52GoQBxXqu57D7P5lF3Djdo-towkvQgx_-f_HlYssCLg/s1600/photo+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPEtlcNWQNTkGWr5aIGYVYCzl0dnr-7A4IoQewhR6SSZLehHUEUs9vejzOAVheKJUmVXPLjtEwRQ8d-9Uhbbm-IzK1Vq52GoQBxXqu57D7P5lF3Djdo-towkvQgx_-f_HlYssCLg/s320/photo+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Now, to the computer! :) I typed our name into Microsoft Office and adjusted the font BIG. The size of your font is not limited to the numbers that pop down, you can click on the font size box and type in any number you choose. Did you know that?? Really slick for making fonts BIG. I guesstimated the size I wanted the letters, (if you scale your word processing screen view to be the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper you can see the font at the exact size it'll print. I think the font size I used was 130. Only three letters would print per line.. MOO and then below that was NEY. I changed fonts for the 'est. 2003' just, well, I like that look. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtHWbjY5a_qCsy_Fk4WID4lhaJDauJHI3r1QhDiVigkkHjJ4exOkdt5meys7PQXawCO51ZuwW0-nPzfj3HsVWT9tdhr1kMTiNhaNV7S6ky_s6tL-gMcUxqtZe4H9UjVrkt16tqKg/s1600/photo+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtHWbjY5a_qCsy_Fk4WID4lhaJDauJHI3r1QhDiVigkkHjJ4exOkdt5meys7PQXawCO51ZuwW0-nPzfj3HsVWT9tdhr1kMTiNhaNV7S6ky_s6tL-gMcUxqtZe4H9UjVrkt16tqKg/s320/photo+%25281%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
HINT: Print your letters in light grey!! That way you use way less black ink than if they were solid black. You just need to see the edge clearly.. grey works fine. Trim out your letters/words and place them on your board the way you'd like them. Make sure they fit and that you have centered them. Nothing will peeve you more than going through this whole process to find that your work isn't centered. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-hM-utlH2fwzqUOgyqfXZLHHDVw6u4nL43TP2ol9hbxmlBWybyhAApLjDTEsgqHb0K-nVgcWFs9WY0yqsgiHpxS2wHteJTPMU-m_FcDi3LdS7mfJuPQ0RvVdf1SFmBgC5bZDiJA/s1600/photo+%25285%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-hM-utlH2fwzqUOgyqfXZLHHDVw6u4nL43TP2ol9hbxmlBWybyhAApLjDTEsgqHb0K-nVgcWFs9WY0yqsgiHpxS2wHteJTPMU-m_FcDi3LdS7mfJuPQ0RvVdf1SFmBgC5bZDiJA/s320/photo+%25285%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
Next, old school it. Flip your papers over and scribble with the edge of a pencil all over the back making sure to cover where the letters are on the other side. (If you have tracing paper you can use that instead). Place them back on position on your board and tape them down. (they won't slide around on you that way.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLeNYWeajZKY4H8OpC7tskfVeFt9zgJXjxowaYwCrIvQhCkmpeqvFhclkpM8k75mJMP9SxiE2SoDiA8ZC_-gDuUFn3pLlNNIeGXn-yrkl_Ifh3jIy-ZwV1NEn3ri-Ec8NEQheGaA/s1600/photo+%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLeNYWeajZKY4H8OpC7tskfVeFt9zgJXjxowaYwCrIvQhCkmpeqvFhclkpM8k75mJMP9SxiE2SoDiA8ZC_-gDuUFn3pLlNNIeGXn-yrkl_Ifh3jIy-ZwV1NEn3ri-Ec8NEQheGaA/s320/photo+%25283%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
Trace over all the edges of the letters and transfer their outline to the painted surface. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP7zR6XtS8JiRU1XtwmvgfilmT4JfmbQWXPce2ekrREQSD5XcmfsWTalfjHCf2nNj7w7dGMAI3STq-WW2_C91bJ9kK4tbc2jQFCeWhOuRPSBf1m22xH2ip_vDVNan6Au5G3vp6iw/s1600/photo+%25284%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP7zR6XtS8JiRU1XtwmvgfilmT4JfmbQWXPce2ekrREQSD5XcmfsWTalfjHCf2nNj7w7dGMAI3STq-WW2_C91bJ9kK4tbc2jQFCeWhOuRPSBf1m22xH2ip_vDVNan6Au5G3vp6iw/s320/photo+%25284%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Now comes the harder part for most.. take your time, use a small, well made paint brush with a fine point (crappy cheap doesn't cut it here AT ALL!) When you have a nicely made paint brush in your hand you'll be amazed at the quality of painting you can do!! Fill in all of the letters/numbers as best as possible. Hold your hand steady, water down your paint (acrylics work fine) just slightly to help the paint flow if needed. Don't sweat the waggles and jogs, the next steps can take care of that. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqTRYVoblSbKKr0JZFC_-95m_iGcmvSCNPLQ53jEwlGV86xQENXu8Xb_0CJL-yvs9_HO9aY-GtCkklIHJNgTlqTENsly8Sr7S_j7ExAgqmC6acZ4YkJbQP4H-iYWgIQPidG3X6sg/s1600/photo+%25289%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqTRYVoblSbKKr0JZFC_-95m_iGcmvSCNPLQ53jEwlGV86xQENXu8Xb_0CJL-yvs9_HO9aY-GtCkklIHJNgTlqTENsly8Sr7S_j7ExAgqmC6acZ4YkJbQP4H-iYWgIQPidG3X6sg/s320/photo+%25289%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Now, step back and let it dry. OVER NIGHT at least. Nothing will make you swear faster than trying to sand wet paint. It ain't purrrty, I tell ya. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyuMqWG5nvv2hl8d01fYX9UdawTmg1__0TdFvM3X1kuuMlUrpMZDHG_8DE3jkXld5JO_UvioZ_7nNh5X_CZCUl7vdNcjnpmCgViSFKyF6gOBpK_v65BJATuCQ8sD4Ubc6YKmLT1Q/s1600/photo+%25286%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyuMqWG5nvv2hl8d01fYX9UdawTmg1__0TdFvM3X1kuuMlUrpMZDHG_8DE3jkXld5JO_UvioZ_7nNh5X_CZCUl7vdNcjnpmCgViSFKyF6gOBpK_v65BJATuCQ8sD4Ubc6YKmLT1Q/s320/photo+%25286%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
Ok, now you need a sanding block or sandpaper. Go at it!! distress those corners and take off paint! It'll smooth out the surface and you really can't hurt it. It all just adds character. <br />
<br />
Wipe with a slightly damp paper towel or a tack cloth to remove the dust. (I used paper towel.. it's what I had on hand) You can choose to leave your piece like that or you can stain it.. which I chose, just to age it a bit more. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQQ5Ff577C5jzCbBVv-5C_IZ_bHG_0yYMUtAanAl6ukNMdFW0jtmFpwJ0VRgj1aXc8gsxuybkJpw4K1i-bC87D7xaE2L8JxFOuN5Tjxzt6AS-pgLsfSS7BnwvJT_mFqveAl0mXGA/s1600/photo+%25288%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQQ5Ff577C5jzCbBVv-5C_IZ_bHG_0yYMUtAanAl6ukNMdFW0jtmFpwJ0VRgj1aXc8gsxuybkJpw4K1i-bC87D7xaE2L8JxFOuN5Tjxzt6AS-pgLsfSS7BnwvJT_mFqveAl0mXGA/s320/photo+%25288%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
Again, using acrylic paint I mixed brown paint and water to the thickness of milky coffee. You want a deeper color? Use less water or a darker brown... I dobbed (technical term) a paper towel in the watery mix and wiped it on the sign and then wiped it off... I did this several times until I reached the effect I was going for. Just a little bit of color in the corners and on the surface to take away the glare of the pure white. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYjI4CrVtGbkoAdOzEWN9HpaRaroUCSM-6Gc8ylUUtBdPvhV2qwrdL_uQNWqXNyJLK1GHhsz0cPt4PLifkG5W2H4oG1p06KilZyATRMzC-ZTqFARZ-hEjNfgDDF_c-si4eWmWkeQ/s1600/photo+%25287%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYjI4CrVtGbkoAdOzEWN9HpaRaroUCSM-6Gc8ylUUtBdPvhV2qwrdL_uQNWqXNyJLK1GHhsz0cPt4PLifkG5W2H4oG1p06KilZyATRMzC-ZTqFARZ-hEjNfgDDF_c-si4eWmWkeQ/s320/photo+%25287%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">That's it! Attach a hanger to the back or prop it up on a table or shelf . the nice thing about making it? when I get tired of it, I can trash it. Hey, you make the art, you have the right to toss it out! Or change it, or give it away, or break it, or paint over it.. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Enjoy!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">xoxo~</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Abbie </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I never got the chance to post these on my site but really wanted to share them. :) I think they are pretty neat. I pulled them out of a 1950's Time magazine. <br />
<br />
So, for those who followed me here, enjoy!<br />

Snow!? I do realize some parts of the country have been getting snow for a bit now, but it's just a tad too early.. that means the color is going to fade from the trees and the world is going to be very brown/grey for quite a while. I love the white of winter, the greens of summer and spring and the brights of fall, but I <em>really </em>could live without the between seasons of mucky grey/brown. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Hope your world is colorful!</div><br /><div><span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">xoxo</span>~</div><br /><div>Abbie</div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Abbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07389665568781422147noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20447939.post-39529720913800893482009-10-11T09:03:00.007-05:002009-10-11T09:20:28.612-05:00Dragonfly<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhmhQrzmKYSJB4wgSijs0wa384ru7kMth5lasTX-wLJkltBafetS9X_qMaa3OrxvJ-X4i8fQMIVA70c0_OasiBWeI_-OrELa7fmhk00GiFddLuFxpEKidLpUZlSjAzPW8YZlv29w/s1600-h/1.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; DISPLAY: block; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391343498278704578" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhmhQrzmKYSJB4wgSijs0wa384ru7kMth5lasTX-wLJkltBafetS9X_qMaa3OrxvJ-X4i8fQMIVA70c0_OasiBWeI_-OrELa7fmhk00GiFddLuFxpEKidLpUZlSjAzPW8YZlv29w/s640/1.JPG" /></a> Yesterday I participated in my first craft show. It was so much fun! I spent a lot of time of the merchandising, signs, color scheme. That is truly the fun part for me. Mind you, I do like creating things as well, but I get bored with the same <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">ol</span>' same <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">ol</span>' all the time. I am definitely a bird of change and graphic design allows me to play with so may colors, styles and formats. I did take some photos, but alas, they are not blog worthy. As you can tell I am fussy about the pics I post here. I'll try to get some images for you and I also have some great tips and sites that I have dug up about craft fairs and the like. Also free or <em>really</em> cheap display ideas. After all, it is about the bottom line, no matter how much we enjoy our craft. I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend! The foliage is just about peaked here in central NH and it is gorgeous! I think we may go and hunt down some pumpkins today.<br />Enjoy!<br /><span id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-error">xoxo</span>~<br />Abbie<br /><br />Isn't the pretty fellow above just lovely? My sister in law (aka the Plum Faerie) dropped them off for us. When our home was under construction a few years ago we lived with her and her husband for about a month. She and my son would have 'Plum Wars'. They'd stand under their plum trees and pluck plums at each other.. it was pretty funny. Now.. what to do with them all?? There are probably 5 pounds of plums! (I don't think a Plum War should be an option yet..)<br /><br /><br /><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwX9voZg5K6GXcnzsB-ndPI2ag54s-TJBed0IyljaUndXQgXsCoAnAMHQOvM83kN5ppahcoJoSTrirpzzuXW7n0b2CqtT-ZAO5Ts2YeEccwjB3460Gsa2wrHo-lEUH2USflMSpng/s1600-h/plums.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; DISPLAY: block; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384636026033210994" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwX9voZg5K6GXcnzsB-ndPI2ag54s-TJBed0IyljaUndXQgXsCoAnAMHQOvM83kN5ppahcoJoSTrirpzzuXW7n0b2CqtT-ZAO5Ts2YeEccwjB3460Gsa2wrHo-lEUH2USflMSpng/s640/plums.JPG" /></a><br />I'm thinking plum jelly, plum tart, it makes me plum tuckered out just contemplating the possiblities! </p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-5A6v9DOf4xWK3VClO4nUikj3-BXEhyphenhyphenS9Gqi1wjSJRH-sj9NJ_ZxQw4QWOZ0qGoJpgENZfC-yPq0TBYyakul-pJsVpBRmV-YNe8yl_u0_ZIXn68favQjpBtA3jx7IHqhvLGfCrQ/s1600-h/plums1.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; DISPLAY: block; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384636016222203618" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-5A6v9DOf4xWK3VClO4nUikj3-BXEhyphenhyphenS9Gqi1wjSJRH-sj9NJ_ZxQw4QWOZ0qGoJpgENZfC-yPq0TBYyakul-pJsVpBRmV-YNe8yl_u0_ZIXn68favQjpBtA3jx7IHqhvLGfCrQ/s640/plums1.JPG" /></a><br />Do you have any ideas for plums? Unfortunately, he wasn't well and allowed me to get quite close. In his right mind, natural instinct would tell him otherwise. He was taking risks, stepping out, and it most probably ended with his demise. Few creatures survive the night in these parts unless they are safely tucked into their homes. Although, perhaps, he is still out there, shouting to mice friends, 'I did it! I walked right up to her and she didn't eat me!' Hehehehee.. little did he know that I captured him. Caught him right up with my camera and now I can look at him whenever I wish.. ;) </div>Abbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07389665568781422147noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20447939.post-45437903623558800402009-09-05T15:45:00.005-05:002009-09-07T12:27:12.568-05:00Lancaster Fair and BIG changes!The family piled into the van this morning and headed north to Lancaster, NH. It is fair weekend here in New Hampshire.. two large ones, one north and one south. We choose to go north as it usually means fewer crowds and that makes it much easier to keep track of three kids. We were right on the money and it was gorgeous! 70 degrees, cool breeze, lots of animals, rides, games and of course, fair food! The only thing that was lacking was my camera battery as it died about 5 photos into the day. <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Aahhh</span> well.. sometimes it's better to see the world through my own eyes not just the lens of my camera. (yay.. I do that too..) and ran across this video by <a href="http://jonrawlinson.com/">Jon Rawlinson</a>. It led me to peek at some of his other videos and he uses the band <a href="http://www.owlcitymusic.com/home.aspx">Owl City</a> is several of them. Their music is wonderful. Clean, calm and perfect 'float away' music. Something this momma is in desperate need of. I noticed the other month that I had completely stopped listening to music except when we were driving in the car. A horrible thing to say the least! Since then I have added a music player to my studio space and try to have it on during the day and TV turned off.<br /><object height="400" width="640"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=5606758&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=0&show_portrait=0&color=ffffff&fullscreen=1"><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=5606758&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=0&show_portrait=0&color=ffffff&fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="640" height="400"></embed></object><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/5606758">Kuroshio Sea - 2nd largest aquarium tank in the world - (song is Please don't go by Barcelona)</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/theradblog">Jon Rawlinson</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com/">Vimeo</a>.</p><p>(If you watch the video, I would recommend hitting the four arrows and expanding it to full screen.)</p><p></p><p>Now you can float away with me when you visit.. I have added Owl City's tunes to my sidebar. Slide down a bit and you can shut it off for watching the video above.. hope you enjoy it too.. do you have any other music suggestions?
