Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
by Robert Frost
by Robert Frost
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lakeThe darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
And miles to go before I sleep.
When I was child, my father used to read Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost to me at Christmas. I adored it. The pictures, drawn by Susan Jeffers, are spectacular, and it holds many dear memories for me. Needless to say, I have the poem memorized, and as I was out stomping around our home yesterday in the snow, I remembered the poem and thought I'd share both my home and the poetry with you. The squirrel was dashing in and around the base of our bird feeder during the storm. He has a network of tunnels dug and was popping out occasionally to dine on sunflower seeds. The moose weathervane was a gift from my husband a few Christmas's ago.
