Little Miss Muffet 10.30.08

OK, I'll post the pretty things now. :) I truly enjoyed the Haunting this year, it was so much fun!

On to the good stuff!! I have been working very hard on a new project! An antique paper doll reproduction from 1894. Her name is Sweet Abigail, (yes, it really is her name, I didn't give it to her) and I am almost done!! Please don't loose your head in excitement, I will be giving away one set here on my blog as a big Thank You to everyone who passes my way. Your comments and thoughts (good or bad) help me through my days.

Abigail comes with four outfits and four hats, and is just fabulous in her Victorian-ness! As soon as I finish her up, hopefully this weekend, I'll post some pictures of the loot for you! Sweet Abigail will also be available to purchase as a very limited run for Christmas. Just leave a comment here, on this post over the next week or two and PLEASE spread the word!

Thank you!

It is the little things in life...

I have been looking at the world a little differently today.

I have been collecting stamps,

playing on roads of pearls and baubles...

and decorating for Halloween.

I have been looking through books..

doing some light reading,

And talking to the house guests.

OK, well maybe the conversations are a little one sided. Just a bit.

Have I completely lost my marbles?

My next post is number 400. The big 4-0-0. Wow. We need something big, a giveaway perhaps? let me think on it, and I'll be with you in a few.. )

Soul Journal Blog Party!!

Thank you Kathryn for hosting such fun!!
Not far from where I live there melts a barn. It is slowly being reclaimed by the earth and, to me, it is more lovely now then it was in it's 'hay' day. So, for you, I have a simple journey of the barn. The power went out several times while I working on the second image. Let's just say, I was very spooked. I hope you enjoy...

I have so many more photos that I took, but alas, my time is tight and that is all I could work on. Below are some journal pages. I don't have many to share right now, as I am just starting my Soul Journal process. (on day 4) The photos of the girls above are from Lewis Carroll. Yes, the Alice and Wonderland author. He was a fantastic photographer as well. The dancing devils in the first barn image are also his work. They were drawn for the original Alice story.

The image below is one of my journal pages (center) imposed over a photo of one of the doors from the barn. The entire wall the door sits in is now resting at about a 45% angle to the ground. I will be posting the Lewis Carroll images to The Vintage Moth once time allows today.

Thank you for stopping by! I'll be over to visit this evening!

The gathering.

Welcome to my home!
Please remember to thank our lovely hostess, Vanessa, for holding such a lovely bit of fun! You will find oddities and curiosities abound here.

Down Abbie's Road things are not so pretty, and most definitely not what they seem. Yes, all of the critters hang on our walls. Truly, they do.

Even Princess Katie has dressed for the occasion, wearing her best.

Please be sure to check to behind you, as the guests will be arriving all evening.

Even the tiniest of insects are joining the soiree.

I don't mean to boar you, alas, I fear, some of my guests are quite hard to bear.

Oh, deer, even the rats have begun to gather.

Spiders, however, will not be found in these parts as I find them just too gruesome!
But their tiny trails are left all over..

Perhaps you may find a bit of science, a bit of whimsy.

Always, good cooking.

Please have excellent conversations and meet new friends.

Don't forget your coat, as it is quite brisk out tonight.
Thank you for stopping by, perhaps I'll see you again.

It was a pleasure.
Don't forget to sign the guestbook as I'd love to visit you in return!

xoxo~

oh, rats..

I have been decorating for Halloween. This year is by far the most done up the house has been. I cut out rat silhouettes from Martha Stewart's Living Oct '07. They now are scampering all over the kitchen area. The one above is peeking down over the edge of the mantel casing. The kids think they are lots of fun, as Ratatouille is one of their favorite movies. The witch profile was also another tidbit from Martha's magazine. I cut it out of black paper, framed it up, then grubbied the frame and glass with brown and black paint.
Hubby has now caught my daughter's (both of them) cold and has had a fever, cough, congestion for days now. Baby A went to the doctor's yesterday and they started her on antibiotics. It has now been over three weeks of sickness in the house and I am going absolutely crazy. I'm wearing baby snot like it was a fashionable accessory right now. I hope everyone is healthy and happy out there, and if you are in the neighborhood, I would recommend avoiding us!

Mind Wide Open

Here is my submission to Mind Wide Open. Gail will be posting all the entries tomorrow! Don't forget to go and vote for your favorite!

I am very happy with the way this came out. VERY different from the original image given to us, but the basic form (which is just lovely! - thank you Gail!) is there. Almost as if she is floating in another universe or dimension.

It was fun! I think there are 30+ Photoshop layers in this.
Click on the image to view it larger.

I can't wait to see what everyone else did!

Busy hands...

I have been busy working on crafty bits to decorate my home for the upcoming season of 'Boo!'. the mood has struck, and if I don't go with it, I'll never get anything done! so far I have made several (4) pillows (embroidered and appliqued), painted two grungy boxes, assembled a witchy portrait, created a ghostie from some vintage lace and antique Victorian jet buttons and made several rag garlands. There are so many more ideas in my folder! So this is where I have been lately.. creating for my family and home. It is more enjoyable than creating things to sell.
I hope at some point to post some of the templates that I created.
Hope everyone else is enjoying some creative time!
