Images of Autumn in New Hampshire

It snowed this morning! Snow!? I do realize some parts of the country have been getting snow for a bit now, but it's just a tad too early.. that means the color is going to fade from the trees and the world is going to be very brown/grey for quite a while. I love the white of winter, the greens of summer and spring and the brights of fall, but I really could live without the between seasons of mucky grey/brown.

Hope your world is colorful!

Dragonfly

Yesterday I participated in my first craft show. It was so much fun! I spent a lot of time of the merchandising, signs, color scheme. That is truly the fun part for me. Mind you, I do like creating things as well, but I get bored with the same ol' same ol' all the time. I am definitely a bird of change and graphic design allows me to play with so may colors, styles and formats. I did take some photos, but alas, they are not blog worthy. As you can tell I am fussy about the pics I post here. I'll try to get some images for you and I also have some great tips and sites that I have dug up about craft fairs and the like. Also free or really cheap display ideas. After all, it is about the bottom line, no matter how much we enjoy our craft. I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend! The foliage is just about peaked here in central NH and it is gorgeous! I think we may go and hunt down some pumpkins today.
Enjoy!

Isn't the pretty fellow above just lovely? His blues and green were iridescent, so hard to capture with a camera but you get the idea. :)

To Bee or Not to Bee...

I'm so happy that these fellows are back this year.. the past few years we really haven't had many bees around. We couldn't get near the blackberries behind our house, they were swamped with bumbles, yellow jackets and white tipped wasps (none of which I'd like to get too up close and personal with).

The Plum Faerie...

The other day I came home to find an enormous basket of plums on my doorstep. My sister in law (aka the Plum Faerie) dropped them off for us. When our home was under construction a few years ago we lived with her and her husband for about a month. She and my son would have 'Plum Wars'. They'd stand under their plum trees and pluck plums at each other.. it was pretty funny. Now.. what to do with them all?? There are probably 5 pounds of plums! (I don't think a Plum War should be an option yet..)

I'm thinking plum jelly, plum tart, it makes me plum tuckered out just contemplating the possiblities!

Do you have any ideas for plums? Please? :)

We are eating them right out of the basket for now. Delicious!

This little fellow was outside last evening. Unfortunately, he wasn't well and allowed me to get quite close. In his right mind, natural instinct would tell him otherwise. He was taking risks, stepping out, and it most probably ended with his demise. Few creatures survive the night in these parts unless they are safely tucked into their homes. Although, perhaps, he is still out there, shouting to mice friends, 'I did it! I walked right up to her and she didn't eat me!' Hehehehee.. little did he know that I captured him. Caught him right up with my camera and now I can look at him whenever I wish.. ;)

Lancaster Fair and BIG changes!

The family piled into the van this morning and headed north to Lancaster, NH. It is fair weekend here in New Hampshire.. two large ones, one north and one south. We choose to go north as it usually means fewer crowds and that makes it much easier to keep track of three kids. We were right on the money and it was gorgeous! 70 degrees, cool breeze, lots of animals, rides, games and of course, fair food! The only thing that was lacking was my camera battery as it died about 5 photos into the day. Aahhh well.. sometimes it's better to see the world through my own eyes not just the lens of my camera. I did manage to get a few for you though..

Above is the view looking over the fairgrounds.. it is much better in person instead of through a windshield at 40 miles an hour.

Sitting in the passenger's seat...
I adore anything old, antique or vintage and these tools were screaming out to me.. "take our picture too!"

And this sweet fellow popped right through his fence to get his photo taken.. you just never realize how many stars there are out there until you start carrying a large camera around with you..
And that was it.. pop fizzle.. no more photos.. if you want to see pics from the Sandwich Fair last year you can see the animals HERE and the sites HERE.

a Thankgiving Gift for you..

This lovely turkey image is for my personal blog readers. Thank you for visiting! My time is spread thin because of my other blogs, and I feel I have been neglecting you. My posts have gotten a bit different lately as I am having a great time playing with my camera. We will return to our regularly scheduled crappy posts soon! :) I think I'll take a break from my posts for a few days and spend my time visiting everyone that I am so Thankful for in Bloglandia.

The picture above I took a few years ago. The corn we were feeding them obviously was not as tasty as the what the little birds were getting.

Digital Journal Journey Page 4

Snow! Snow.. tonight it is suppose to snow! The photo background above is our garden. The cherry tomatoes have seen better days, yes? They were so good! The kids loved to go out and pick them, popping a few in their mouths at the same time. The leaves are from the fabulous Kathryn, the Collage Diva. You should take some time and browse through her blog.. inspiration and goodies are all over the place! The other images I used are available at The Vintage Moth.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic time getting ready for Halloween! It is right around the corner!

I am considering creating custom blog banners and layouts for people. My first few will be offered free of charge, as long as I can use it as an example of my work. Anyone interested in a blog makeover? Just email me.

Soul Journal Blog Party!!

Thank you Kathryn for hosting such fun!!
Not far from where I live there melts a barn. It is slowly being reclaimed by the earth and, to me, it is more lovely now then it was in it's 'hay' day. So, for you, I have a simple journey of the barn. The power went out several times while I working on the second image. Let's just say, I was very spooked. I hope you enjoy...

I have so many more photos that I took, but alas, my time is tight and that is all I could work on. Below are some journal pages. I don't have many to share right now, as I am just starting my Soul Journal process. (on day 4) The photos of the girls above are from Lewis Carroll. Yes, the Alice and Wonderland author. He was a fantastic photographer as well. The dancing devils in the first barn image are also his work. They were drawn for the original Alice story.

The image below is one of my journal pages (center) imposed over a photo of one of the doors from the barn. The entire wall the door sits in is now resting at about a 45% angle to the ground. I will be posting the Lewis Carroll images to The Vintage Moth once time allows today.

Thank you for stopping by! I'll be over to visit this evening!

The gathering.

Welcome to my home!
Please remember to thank our lovely hostess, Vanessa, for holding such a lovely bit of fun! You will find oddities and curiosities abound here.

Down Abbie's Road things are not so pretty, and most definitely not what they seem. Yes, all of the critters hang on our walls. Truly, they do.

Even Princess Katie has dressed for the occasion, wearing her best.

Please be sure to check to behind you, as the guests will be arriving all evening.

Even the tiniest of insects are joining the soiree.

I don't mean to boar you, alas, I fear, some of my guests are quite hard to bear.

Oh, deer, even the rats have begun to gather.

Spiders, however, will not be found in these parts as I find them just too gruesome!
But their tiny trails are left all over..

Perhaps you may find a bit of science, a bit of whimsy.

Always, good cooking.

Please have excellent conversations and meet new friends.

Don't forget your coat, as it is quite brisk out tonight.
Thank you for stopping by, perhaps I'll see you again.

It was a pleasure.
Don't forget to sign the guestbook as I'd love to visit you in return!

xoxo~

The bright colors at the fair... (added a few that I forgot)

$$$$... that is what you need to take to the Fair. Ouch. The cash flows fast when rides run $3-5 per person, per ride and when 'Soup in a Bread Bowl' is $7. Oh, let's not forget the lemonade at $5.00 a cup.

My son is on the Zero Gravity ride, he is in the top right hand corner. He loves scray rides! Me, not so much.

Even the carousel made me feel really woozy! But aren't the colors lovely? I love the rich pink and all the lights.. my daughter thought it was fabulous!

The bottom two images my son took from the top of the ferris wheel. Didn't he do a splendid job? It was overcast, but a very pleasant day. About 68 degrees with very little breeze. I carried my little one in a harness for three hours. (something I never do) Ooooy. I'm paying for it now! The colors are fading fast now. Soon everything will be brown and gray until the snow comes.
