Studio Friday: Your Creativity Roots..

My roots go deep I suppose.. my great grandmother on my fathers side was a marvelous artist.. she did gorgeous portraits and drawings.. My talents don't even come close.. this is the only one I could get my hands on in such short notice. There are many more, but will come to me when my parents pass away and I don't want to rush that.. This one is in very poor condition and for some unknown reason is unfinished. You can just barely see the faint pencil lines that finish the self-portrait. She was a beautiful, sophisticated lady and very wealthy. My understanding is, that at one point, she and her husband owned the entire block in Boston that the Ritz Carlton sat on. (The Ritz is still there) As for the rest of my family, we are all very creative in our own unique ways. My mother is very 'crafty' and when she painted and drew, was quite good. If you click on the images you can see them much larger.

Thanks for sharing your roots. Your grandma must have been outstanding with her drawings! Even this one is unfinished but when her finished worked is the same way detailed, they must be beautiful. It's really interesting to read everybodies creativ roots, so many touching and great stories. I enjoyed reading everyone. So many forms of creativness origin in family members with creative relatives/ancestors. (hope I wrote this word right!) ;)

I love this profile! Very art nouveau with the detailed hair! I think the cracks in the paper add to the picture! So lovely!!!
