Sometimes I think we have become too dependent on our electric gadgets. It's nice to take a step back to a simpler time. Stay warm and Happy Thanksgiving.
Losing power can be a pain in the tush, but your little girl next to the fire looks so sweet and cozy. The candles look so inviting. I can see why you enjoyed your day. Happy Thanksgiving Abbie!
Makes me grin. We didn't get more than flurries, but the rain...oh my! Quite the nasty storm. Do you think that the snow will last? It looks like a lot.
Sounds like a calm relaxing day....glad to hear that could enjoy the loosing-power-annoyance. I have news, check out my blog, smiles and a wonderful Thanksgiving to you and your family, eat some turkey for me, smiles and hugs, Anke ;)
What a peaceful day! Sometimes it's nice to slow down and spend our day in a different way. Enjoying your blog...love the turkey at the bird feeder. :-) Susan
If you have warmth, loosing electricity for a little while can be so theraputic. I used to love it when we lost electricity in California. I used to light tons of candles so that the house literally glowed...now, in NY, it scares me to death to lose electricity. I am so glad you enjoyed it AND stayed warm!
Don't you love those days when the weather forces you all to slow down? One of my favorite memories is when an ice storm took our power out. My kids were really little, and we spent the day huddled in front of the fireplace. It was wonderful to have nothing to do except stay warm. :)
I know this is a comment for an old post, but I've just discovered your blog today. These images of home life by candlelight are absolutely inspiring. Technology can sometimes be way overrated. There is nothing like nature to make us pause and revert to the old ways. How beautiful. Thank you for sharing such a lovely blog.
~I am a thirty-something, somewhat educated woman who makes home with my husband, three kids and two dogs.
~I have seen most of the world. ~I have sinned, loved, lost, forgiven, forgotten, quit, but never given up. ~I love creating- life, art, messes, love. ~I love cleaning up- life, art, messes, love. ~I have a dark side. ~I love rainy days. ~I have a sick sense of humor. ~I believe that paint and/or fabric can make anything beautiful. ~I love the Met in NYC.~I love History. ~I forget lots of things-names, faces, what I just said, phone messages. ~I have no regrets-every step (good or bad) has brought me to this moment, and it's marvelous. ~I love making my children laugh- most of all I love it when they make me laugh...

How cozy that looks! What a sweetie, your little girl. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
We haven't seen the snow yet down here in the Queen City. It is a matter of time though.
Your little one is so precious. These are charming photos. What a great story you tell.
Enjoy your family and Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes! Candlelight are best and losing electricity sometimes teach us valuable lessons in patience and perseverance.
