Yesterday, one year ago, my father in law passed away. It is hard to believe that already a year has fluttered by, but sometimes it seems as if it was just yesterday. For one year now I have shared my home with another woman. Strange, but lovely all the same. She fills the children with smiles, and I know they do the same for her. I'm finding it more true each year, that the older you get the faster the years go, and I'm only 33! When I'm seventy will they seem to flash in a blink?

Yes, my dear, the speed up is proportional to age and time left or so I am convinced.

For what it's worth, I think it is wonderful that you have opened your home, YOUR home, to your mother-in-law. You and the Farmer's Wife must have a lot of good stories to share. ;>

Abbie,

Your dedication to your Father in Law is very lovely!! What a wonderful gift you have given your Mother in Law and her Grandchildren!! It's so seldom that our kids are raised with the true meaning of "Family" !! :c)

I'm a follower on the Vintage Moth, and didn't know you had this blog. I'm glad that you posted a link!

I'm just a bit older than you (a few years), and I too feel like time is flying by over the last 8 years. Things that I think of, seem like just a blink ago! Other things, I can't remember at all! It's a weird feeling getting older each year (especially since I'm well into my thirties now).

That is one gorgeous piece of work! It must be a joy for your children to have both mother and grandmother there for them. And it must be a blessing for your mother-in-law to have you and your family so that she was not left alone after her loss.

I hate to think about how fast time seems to be flying (I am 41). Must find a way to s-l-o-w-i-t-d-o-w-n.

I'm 53 and time is flying by. And that other thing that kicks in with age has kicked in. (memory loss)

Yes time flies...I agree on that with you, even I doesn't seem like that to me right now, but that will be over hopefully soon.....need my energy back....ahhhhhh! A couple more weeks and hopefully it's back.
Can't believe it's already a year ago your father in law passes away, glad to hear it works out good with your mom in law and the kids can enjoy her as well, even it's not always easy to have another woman in the house. I think you made the best out of it and like everything else, things have their advantages and disadvantages.
I wonder too if the years go over faster with 70 than with 33...mmmh, maybe there will be change again and the days won't go by when you are old...I guess we will know when we get there.Anyway enjoy as much as you can the Christmas time with our family!
Smiles, Anke ;)
PS: Before I forget....as before enjoyed all your new wonderful inspiring digital diary entries....keep on coming!
