Kitch-y pics..and Valentine's..

The sinks in our kitchen are probably one of my most favorite things in the house. I just love the soapstone.. it develops a lovely patina over time. With each year we use them, the sinks just get better. Also, being a short person, it is very easy to get my hand in there to work. When we were working with the craftsman on the design of the kitchen I wanted to make sure the cabinets had 'feet'. I think it gives the appearance of furniture instead of cabinetry.

Below is a snapshot of the island and stove. (uh.. duh.) ;) You can see my loon decoy watching over everything. It's technically not mine, I bought it for my hubby. But what's his is mine and what's mine is mine, right? lol! ;)

I keep a stash of hidden goodies in the crystal bowl on the island.. can you tell what they are? Here's a hint..

Also, for those who are doing a swap with me.. yes, I still want to swap! :) First.. I need snail mail addresses.. (email me..) I thought since things are so crazy on my end, that I would put together some lovely little bundles (very inexpensively) and send them out to each of you. I am hoping to send out your packages this week. Once you receive them, then you can send something back in return if you wish. AND.. Carolyn created this lovely banner for your blog if you would like to grab it and post it! Thank you Carolyn!! It is just so cute, it makes me smile!

Love the kitchen pics...soapstone sinks are so much nicer than standard sinks...warmer and homier, if you will.

I'd love to participate in a swap...I'm kind of in V-day swap mode lately.

Hi Abbie,
I just love your kitchen -- especially the soapstone sink. We have soapstone countertops, and I'm wishing I had gotten the sink as well! Beautiful!

I'm so confused!!! I saw the banner on Carolyn's blog the other day and came to see what was happening -- a Valentine swap; I knew that much. But could find nothing in your blog about joining.

Now I see you are talking about in this post and I want to play -- so can I just swap with you Abbie? I'll send you something if you send me something!!! :) I'll email you my address. And Carolyn's banner for the swap is gorgeous -- hmmm....perhaps she needs to be selling her work (what do you say to that Carolyn?!?!?!) :)

I love your kitchen Abbie and your sinks are to die for -- as for what's in that crystal bowl - they look like Werther's Originals to me!!! At least that's what I'd WANT them to be!!!

I love the soapstone sink. I've never seen one because it's not a building material that is used around here. When you say it ages, what does that mean? How does the material change over time?

I was wondering about the swap, but sounds good the way you want to do it. Something special you miss from Germany, any sweets or something? Let me know ;) Smiles, Anke

PS: Awesome kitch you got there ;)

Soapstone sinks, can't get any better than that and so perfect for your lovely kitchen. I have an old white cast iron sink that I'm pretty fond of, but I'd be willing to upgrade to soapstone.;>

Raining here, there too? Hope that you find some pleasant amusements for yourself and the children.
